What are Trigger Point Injections?

Trigger point injections (TPI) are a common treatment for painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points, or knots of muscle that form when muscles do not relax. These injections can help relieve muscle pain and improve range of motion by targeting specific areas of muscle spasm.

Procedure Overview

The patient is positioned comfortably, and the skin over the trigger point is cleaned with an antiseptic solution.

Using a small needle, a local anesthetic or a mixture of anesthetic and dextrose is injected directly into the trigger point using Ultrasound(USG) for accuracy.

Completion

The procedure is quick, usually lasting a few minutes per trigger point. Multiple trigger points may be treated in one session.
